General Introduction of Sodium Cyanide

Sodium Cyanide above 98% solid white crystalline briquette form is mainly used as leaching agent in gold mining operations with leaching process, it's also as known as Sodium Cyanide, NaCN, CAS#143-33-9, Cymag, Cyanide of sodium, Cyanide salts, cyanosodium, Cyanogran, Cyanobrik, Caswell No. 758. and etc.
Sodium Cyanide's production can be with different processes including: ammonia sodium method, cyanide melt method, iS-One method, flame method, light oil cracking method, vinyl cyanide by-product method. Wherein Hebei Chengxin is using light oil cracking method, light oil and ammonia are mixed in proportion in spraying gun, 280 DEG C of preheating, scission reaction in electric arc furnace, when 1450 DEG C of temperature, reaction generates prussic acid gas, through dedusting, cooling to 280 DEG C after, then with absorbing by liquid caustic soda generate sodium cyanide, with general reaction formula C6H 14+6NH3→6HCN+13H2, HCN+NaOH→NaCN+H2O. light oil cracking method is also the most widely used technology for producing Sodium Cyanide due to high utilization coefficient of light oil and liquid ammonia, also more safe continuous plant operation in micro negative pressure.
Sodium Cyanide can be used for fumigation, electroplating, extracting gold and silver from ores, and chemical manufacturing. However, gold extraction with leaching process is its main applications. Since Sodium Cyanide is highly soluble, gold ore after crushing and grinding and sodium cyanide (NaCN) solution mixtures is fed into large mechanically stirred tanks where it is agitated with air as a leaching process to form the leachate (gold-cyanide complex). The air provides dissolves oxygen for gold leaching process to supplies moderate stirring power, which forces better contact between reactant and ensuring that the pulp at the bottom of tank does not heap up together. Typical feed composition simulation can be ores (Au) = 0.15 kg/hr, O2 = 113.45 kg/hr, CN- = 2.9117kg/hr, OH- =0.9519 kg/hr, Na+ = 4.0397 kg/hr and H2O = 55994 kg/hr, as per process flow diagram bellow:
